Its IATA code was AZ, and its primary hubs were Rome Fiumicino Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport. Alitalia built its network on European routes while also operating long-haul international services connecting North America, South America, Asia, and the Middle East, playing a central role in Italy’s and the global air transport market for decades.
