We have an outstanding school at Tin Can Bay with a wonderful community. At Tin Can Bay P-10 State School, we aim to achieve the best educational outcomes for every student. Our School Vision, ‘A Positive Future’, can be achieved by students who acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills to be learners for life and who strive to achieve their personal potential. In addition, we believe that students need to have the social skills, self-discipline and networking skills to be constructive community members. As a learning community, our focus is on students achieving their potential; all decision-making and strategic planning is developed in the context of our school vision.
Tin Can Bay P-10 School’s drive has highlighted the creation and implementation of a literacy and numeracy improvement agenda, an updated Curriculum Map and more targeted use of school resources as our key priorities. We have a strong focus on Math, English and Science. The school is continuing to strive to embed these goals in all aspects of school life. We have a bright future.
Tin Can Bay P-10 State School strives to ensure that all educational programs are responsive to the needs of the school community and Education Queensland initiatives. Our three areas of significant focus for development, which were identified within our school performance standards, are focused on improving the educational outcomes of all the students at Tin Can Bay P-10 School.
The use of data to drive literacy and numeracy improvement is a priority for staff and students in 2017. The use of NAPLAN data, PAT Maths data and expectations outlined in the school Assessment and Monitoring Framework underpins and supports the focussed teaching occurring in every classroom. Staff also work closely with the Curriculum Coordinator, Heads Of Departments, Head Of Special Education Services, Support Teacher: Literacy &Numeracy, trained classroom profilers and Admin staff to support their teaching practices.
All of our Staff are working with Admin staff to strengthen their skill sets through the Developing Performance Framework and explicit classroom practice.
Through the employment of an Indigenous Liaison Officer the school is working towards Closing the Gap for our Indigenous students. The focus has been on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Action Plan domains: Readiness for School, Engagement and Connections, Attendance, Literacy and Numeracy, Leadership, Quality Teaching and Workforce Development and Pathways to real post school options.
I look forward to seeing you at Tin Can Bay P-10 State School.
