私立嘉陽高中座落於鰲峰山上，成立於民國五十六年秋天，前身為『崇基工商職業學校』，由施季言博士擔任校長，創辦人李榮道先生為董事長。草創初期收新生10班，學生人數300餘人。旋於民國五十九年六月十七日全面改組，由黃清芳先生擔任董事長，學校更名為『台中縣私立嘉陽高級工商職業學校』，並敦請楊丁先生持校政，學校各項設備初具規模，奠定了良好的發展基礎。民國七十九年九月奉准增設普通科和國際貿易科，學校更名『台中縣私立嘉陽高級中學』，八十四年獲准設立國中部，成為海線地區第一所綜合型高級中學。
