This uniform, designed by Laurence Xu, is the most culturally symbolic piece in the entire collection, drawing closest to the silhouette of traditional Eastern dress. Centered on a modernized qipao, its lines follow the body without constriction, expressing a feminine elegance that is restrained, dignified, and refined. The uniform itself reads as a wearable cultural artifact.
A stand collar anchors the design, with deep navy piping extending downward along an asymmetrical front closure. This detail references traditional Chinese frog closures and overlapping plackets, yet replaces physical fastenings with embroidery and linear detailing, giving the garment a lighter and more contemporary character. The short sleeves preserve the qipao’s balanced proportions while enhancing freedom of movement, allowing the classical form to integrate seamlessly into a modern airline service environment.
