Focus School Dunstable Campus is an Independent School with a vibrant atmosphere, good results and a clear vision for the future. Our latest 162(A) Inspection report can be accessed in our inspection section.
The board of trustees work closely with the teachers to provide an education that meets the needs of all learners within our non-selective intake. The school has a Christian ethos and a strong community feel where students, parents, employees, trustees and other stakeholders have a sense of belonging and ownership.
We are an all-through school with an initial intake at year 3 and almost all students stay on to complete years 12 and 13 on site. At Key stage 4 students take IGCSE and GCSE in up to 10 or 11 subjects and in 2014 we achieved an incredible 94% A* to C grades at GCSE level. At Key Stage 5 there is a focus on the core academic subjects, complemented by business courses and the opportunity to excel in creative or vocational areas as well.
Our vision for the future will see us move to an increasingly learner-led style of education where students take responsibility for their own learning, and teachers increasingly act as a ‘guide from the side’. This move to a more relevant self-directed style of education requires the leadership of a passionate senior teacher to inspire students, manage, coach and co-ordinate staff, and drive the teaching and learning to a new level of excellence.
