Porirua College was established in 1968 and has a great history as the co-educational, multi–cultural school which proudly and capably serves its local area and has been doing so for over 40 years. The school takes students from year 9 to years 13/14 and also has a separate adult class in teaching English to speakers of other languages.
In 2012 we launched another initiative – the Community College – which is an adult learning programme at present teaching Pasefika languages and Te Reo to over 150 adult learners.
The school is located in Cannons Creek, Porirua East and we have formed successful strategic partnerships over the years with other local schools, and schools located in Auckland. We were a member of the ICAN cluster of schools. We are also a member of the AIMHI schools, which is a partnership with the Ministry of Education and nine Secondary schools in Auckland. We are currently in a cluster of local Primary schools, Brandon Intermediate and ourselves [the PEG cluster].
