本校於民國四十四年八月十七日由彰化縣政府核准籌備，同年八月廿日奉准招生。四十六年十月廿八日正式奉准設校，定名為彰化縣立田中初級中學。五十七年八月更為彰化縣立田中國民中學，校址設於田中鎮南路里文化街二十三號。o
