基本資料 | Information

Bass High School is a comprehensive, coeducational school with a current enrolment of 764 students. The school has a culturally diverse student population including an established Special Education Unit. At Bass High School more than 95% of enrolments come from families whose parents have a language background other than English. School priorities focus on raising student learning outcomes and academic performance, improving student engagement and increasing student retention. School targets are realised through exchanges of quality teaching and learning, as well as advancing literacy, numeracy and student welfare support.

At Bass High School we value safe, respectful learners. Our aim is to provide all our students with a positive, supportive school environment with the focus on active learning. School uniform, participation and respect are very important to our school community.

It is an exciting time to be a student at Bass High School with new state of the art performing arts and fitness centre facilities, new commercial kitchen areas and recently refurbished science laboratories. Exciting technologies including interactive whiteboards, laptops and iPads, provide students with access to the world of information beyond the classroom. Our two student learning centres (junior and senior), homework centre and regular senior study skills workshops provide fantastic opportunities for students to extend their learning or to get some extra help with their school work.

Our teachers are dedicated and enthusiastic and range from early career to highly experienced. A significant number of our teachers mark HSC and NAPLAN exams. Some of our teachers are HSC marking supervisors and play an important role in the preparation of a range of HSC exams. We have a strong and active parent group. Regular P&C meetings provide opportunities for parent involvement in school life and school decision-making.

Our students regularly perform well in major exams including the HSC. In 2013 our best performing student received an ATAR of 97.7 and a number of our students were placed on the prestigious HSC Distinguished Achievers List for a band 6 (the highest band in a subject) result.

We offer a broad syllabus covering traditional subjects as well as a range of electives including agriculture, drama, physical activity and sport studies, child studies, photography, industrial arts and rugby league electives. Senior students enjoy a choice of traditional HSC subjects as well as vocational education training (VET) courses in business services, information technology, hospitality, sports coaching, primary industries and construction.

Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is active, innovative and provides a voice for all students at our school. We have a long and proud sporting history with outstanding results across many sports at regional, state and national levels. Our rugby league teams (girls and boys) are regular state champions and our boy's league teams compete in the elite schools competition. A strong and active arts program provides opportunities for involvement in music, dance, drama, and visual arts. Regular concerts, including our playground concert series, are a highlight. School debating teams have enjoyed considerable success in zone and regional competitions. Our school farm is a unique feature and provides students with wonderful real-life learning experiences. The GOALS program matches students with business mentors from some of Australia's leading companies. Our school camp program aims to involve all students at some stage of their schooling in an exciting camp experience.

We are very proud of our school, our students, teachers and parents. This website will give you just a glimpse of our great school and what we have to offer your child.
