The small class sizes at Galstaun College allow for individual academic support of all students. Class teachers provide additional support where needed and students can seek the assistance of their teachers beyond the classroom.
In the High School, support with study skills, time management, goal setting, exam preparation, memory skills, thinking skills, how to learn and much more take place through the Pastoral classes, guest speakers and workshop leaders.
Students in Year 12 are assigned a teacher as a mentor. The mentor meets with their student(s) regularly and assists them in their endeavours as they work through the HSC course of study and prepare for the final Examinations.
The needs of students who require additional support are met through individual or small group focused sessions for areas such as literacy and numeracy as well as through the College ESL and Special Needs Teacher.
The Secondary school offers a curriculum with choice and flexibility, helping students to achieve at the highest academic levels. In addition to HSC English, a wide range of subjects are offered which help cater for different learning styles and interests including Extension l and ll Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Legal Studies, Modern History, Extension History, Drama, Music, Business Studies, Design & Technology, Visual Art, IPT, Biology and accelerated Armenian.
