Araluen Christian College began when a group of Christian families decided they wanted a christian school for their children. Lessons began in a Butcher's shop in Alice Springs in the 1980s. In 1990 the families of the school, approached the Northern Territory Christian Schools Association to become a member school of the NTCSA. The school began under the name of Araluen Christian School and was a Primary school for children from Transition to Year 6. The sport houses Johannsen, Sawtell & Sharpe were named after people significant in the early development of the College.

In 2007 Araluen Christian School changed its name to Araluen Christian College in anticipation of the move to become registered for the addtional Middle School Years 7, 8 & 9. The Middle School began in 2008 with Principal, Mrs Hilary Saunders. A new classroom to house the first Year 7 class was built. The Middle School grew by one year level a year until the first Year 9 class graduated in 2010. The College has grown consistently since 2008.

In 2009 at the 25th Anniversary celebration founding members of the school community and one of the builders of the Blain Street site, Mr & Mrs Johannsen cut the celebratory cake.

Building development has included an extension to the oval, a library and a junior outdoor learning area. By 2011 student numbers had gradually increased to a point which enabled a larger staff catering for one class at each year level from Transition to Year 9. 2011 saw the first year of single year level classes across the College and a change of Principal to Mrs Cate Garwood. It was also the introduction of 1 to 1 laptops in the Middle School Years 7,8 & 9.

In 2012 a further Middle School classroom was opened on site and more ground works were completed. Araluen Christian College developed our community profile within the wider in Alice Springs community during 2012 and this continues to the present time.

2013 was a year of challenge as the College continued to operate inspite of a significant fire to some of the buildings. This was a time of developing strength and resilience in the face of trying circumstances. It saw the college community pull together tremendously through relationship to achieve great things. All the while continuing to grow and flourish as our motto says; in the faith, hope and love that Christ provides. A highlight in 2013 came in the form of the 2nd Middle School Interstate Camp traveling to Sydney and Canberra for a week of fun and adventure. The significance of this was that it came 4 years on from the first trip Middle School trip, with just 15 Middle School students. This time the staff travelled with almost just under 50 students. All of whom were a credit to the college and their families.

The 30th Anniversary of Araluen Christian College was held in 2014. Past students, staff and families marked this momentus occassion with a variety of school and weekend events during the NT picnic weekend that year. Past and present Principals, staff, students, families and friends attended the 30th Anniversary Dinner along with the Alice Springs Mayor Damien Ryan. A special year book was created and people had the opportunity to design a paver to be including in a future building endeavour at the college.

2015 was also a momentus year as the new Middle School Complex dedicated to Years 7, 8 & 9 students was completed and opened on May 19th by the NT Christian Schools (Acting) CEO, Debra Twartz. The college also became nationally recognised as a 'Kidsmatter' School. This was an acknowledgement of years of work developing the priorty of wellbeing for all members of Araluen Christian College. A new language - Japanese and the learning area of Psychology were introduced into the curriculum. The dedicated Science lab and Arts area were also developed. A multipurpose outdoor hard court was opened in November 2015 for not only the college but the wider community in Alice Springs who use it after hours.

The future is before us as we continue to create moments to remember as we journey on in life and learning at Araluen Christian College.
