At Brookton DHS we provide our students with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to enable them to become life long learners and to make positive contributions to the society in which they live.
A range of experience is evident amongst staff from long serving teachers to graduates. This mixture provides for a vital teaching and learning environment where staff work collaboratively and display a very positive and professional approach to their work.
Teaching staff includes those with expertise in the primary and secondary sectors. All staff are committed to developmentally appropriate learning and support a variety of strategies that suit the learning needs of our students.
A dedicated group of about 16 non-teaching staff work collaboratively with teachers to ensure that the school is able to provide a comprehensive and vibrant educational program for students.
The school conducts specialist programs in Physical Education, Information Technology and LOTE (Italian). Secondary students are engaged in a number of enterprise activities and this approach will be expanded and strengthened in the future. Homework classes, primarily for our Aboriginal students, are run after school twice each week.
The school is well resourced with facilities that include an information technology laboratory, science laboratory, design and technology centre, home economics room, resource centre (library), hall and art room. The school grounds are attractive and provide playing areas for all groups. All classrooms in the school are air-conditioned.
The school receives outstanding support from our very active School Council, P&C Association and ASSPA Committee. Parents are provided with many opportunities to be involved in classrooms, whole school activities and decision making processes.
