Our Bethlehem College Primary School caters for a roll of approximately 460-490 students in years 1-6. Our class sizes are capped at 18 students in our year 1, 24 in years 2 and 28 in our year’s 4-6 classes.
Our classrooms are both well-equipped and resourced, catering for modern learning environments with the support of iPad’s and other modern learning tools. We have a dedicated teaching staff here at Bethlehem College whom are committed to their student’s needs and support and guide them in their learning journey. Our Primary School has a Music Suite incorporating specialist music lessons, an ICT suite, hall, swimming pool and a well-resourced library.
As part of the wider Bethlehem Campus, we are able to access our beautiful park like grounds, hockey turf, all weather tennis and netball courts, cricket nets and a Performing Arts Centre.
Our emphasis is on developing our students to be successful in their learning in four key areas.
Academic: We offer teaching and learning in all curriculum areas in order to equip our students with the necessary knowledge, skills and values so that they can be lifelong learners.
Cultural: We offer opportunities that are wide and varied including choirs, music specialist lessons, Kapa Haka, school productions, itinerant music lessons, Speech Competitions, talent quests, dance and after School Art Clubs. Each week we hold Primary School Assemblies which are led by each class throughout the year. This provides a forum to showcase each classes learning and encourages students in presenting themselves to an audience.
Moral: Children flourish in an environment which affirms that life has a greater meaning and purpose. We work in partnership with parents to help shape the moral character of our students teaching that character and integrity based upon biblical principles will serve them throughout their whole life.
Physical: We offer a wide range of summer and winter sporting codes which are coordinated by our Primary Sports Coordinator. We have annual swimming, athletics and cross country events and send representative teams to participate in Bay of Plenty School Events.
As a school, we believe in strong, positive home and school relationships where parents and teachers work together to support our students learning. To this end, we value open communication with our students, parents, teachers and school management.
