Established in 1980
Nowra Christian Community School was officially opened in 1980 at the Nowra Baptist Church premises in Salisbury Drive with 22 students. Not long after that the infants department was moved to temporary accommodation in rooms at the old Bomaderry Primary School.
The move to Old Southern Rd
In 1984 Nowra Baptist Church purchased 20 acres of ground fronting Old Southern Road at South Nowra where the first stage of the new buildings were built. Many different temporary buildings were used as classrooms including some old Shell refinery buildings and even a retired school bus. In 1986 the entire school, infants, primary and secondary were reunited at the Old Southern Rd location. The new buildings were officially opened by Mr John Buckle on 13 September 1986. Mrs Ona Frazier (nee Boyd) was the Acting Principal at the time. Mr George Windsor took up duties of Principal in January 1987, retiring at the end of 1996. Dr Garry Gannell was then appointed Principal, commencing in 1997. He retired from the Principalship at the end of 2013. Mr David Marks was Principal for Semester One 2014, then Mr Phil Smith commenced as Principal until the end 2016. Mr Rob Bray is NCS’s current school Principal.
A change of name
In 2005, Nowra Christian Community School had a name change and is now known as Nowra Christian School.
Continuing strong
Nowra Christian School now provides education for more than 350 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our students benefit from working in an environment where they are known and cared for by the qualified and experienced Christian teachers and ancillary staff.
Our students benefit from being part of a community where parents have ready access to the school so that they may work in partnership with the teachers.
We provide a safe, caring educational environment where children and young people have the opportunity to discover, explore, develop and use their gifts.
