本校於民國62年9月奉准設校，由左營國中陳校長啟庸擔任籌備主任，展開建校工作。62學年度招收一年級新生6班317人，借用右昌國小教室上課。
民國62年11月，曾校長文卿正式奉派接掌，在任7年領導全體師生共同努力，建造了勤學大樓、工藝教室及運動操場。63年12月奉准成立中級補習學校，提供社區人士進修機會。
