早在1938年，峇株吧辖各界认为在本镇有开办中学的必要，使国小毕业生不必到外地升学。是年8月27日，召开 峇属华校董教代表会议，由主席团粘东生，赵丽生及蒋才品三位先生负责征求发起人，组织筹委会，获得九个社团及六十二位侨贤的支持。同年十月，由发起人大会成立筹备建校委员会，展开建校工作。
