Description
This cabin crew uniform of Jet2.com represents a major transformation after more than 20 years. It is not only a visual refresh but also reflects a comprehensive upgrade in brand identity, employee experience, and sustainability initiatives.
The overall design is centered on a navy blue color scheme, replacing the previously more traditional black tones to create a more modern and approachable appearance. The uniform features a fitted one-piece dress, accented with refined red details at the collar, cuffs, and belt, forming a strong and recognizable brand contrast. Silver buttons add a sense of quality, giving the uniform a polished and professional finish within a minimalist framework.
The development process took approximately 18 months, incorporating extensive feedback from pilots and cabin crew. Through design workshops, wearer trials, focus groups, and even a runway-style presentation, the design was continuously refined to balance aesthetics with practicality. The new uniform is being rolled out to nearly 6,000 Jet2.com employees, highlighting both its scale and significance.
In terms of versatility, cabin crew are given greater flexibility, with options to choose between dresses, skirts, or trousers depending on personal preference and operational needs. Additional items such as waistcoats and cardigans have been introduced to enhance comfort and adaptability. A newly designed apron, created with input from Newcastle-based cabin crew member June Winter, further improves functionality for frontline staff.
The uniform was designed and manufactured by long-term partner Jermyn Street Design (JSD), which oversees the entire lifecycle—from global material sourcing to distribution—ensuring consistency and quality across the program.
Sustainability is a key aspect of this redesign. The new uniforms incorporate recycled fibers and are delivered using fully recyclable packaging. Additionally, up to 80,000 pieces of old uniforms will be recycled into new materials, while around 3,000 non-recyclable items will be donated to charitable organizations, demonstrating the company’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
