Condell Park Christian School, now in its 38th year, is an integral and inseparable part of the ministry of Condell Park Bible Church. Under the leadership of the Pastor of the Church, who is also the Chairman of the School Board, the church-school staff provide a thoroughly Christian education to the children through the many ministry opportunities of the church and school. The church-school staff is complemented in this task by the greater school community. Parents, church-school staff and other church members all harmonise in relating to students individually and in modelling Biblical living. Christian character development is considered of equal priority to academic mastery in the life of the student.
Within the curriculum, all teaching and learning activities are taught from a Biblical perspective, since the purpose of the Christian school is to obey the Scriptural imperatives of Deuteronomy 6:5-7a:
"... love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children ..."
and of Proverbs 22:6, "... train up a child in the way he should go ..."
The school commenced using exclusively the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) programme of self-instructional learning packages. Over the years, through studies and professional development, the staff has endeavoured to enhance their understanding of modern educational philosophy and child pedagogy, and through a process of critical evaluation, have made significant changes to the school's curriculum. The current offer of curriculum embraces some individualised learning opportunities, along with many learning activities in a thoroughly interactive classroom, where group learning, learning through manipulatives and technologies, and peer support and monitoring are commonplace. This blend of educational delivery has been highly commended by education professionals for a number of years.
The church-school believes that no person can be thoroughly educated unless he or she has a love for and proficiency in reading the Word of God. Therefore the school has a strong literacy development programme commencing in Kindergarten. The school is also committed to all of its students developing real strength in numeracy, since functionality in today's society requires a high level of competence in numeracy.
The school is also highly committed to addressing the needs of enrolled children with disabilities and special learning needs. With both regular input from special education advisors and performance testing of students, the Special Education coordinator, teachers and teachers' aides implement strategies to assist children with such learning challenges, in close collaboration with parents. The small school environment facilitates a very effective programme of assisting these very special children.
Condell Park Christian School is a church-school, which is exempt of registration on religious grounds for Years K-12 (Stages 1 to 6), by BOSTES. In compliance with Section 75 of the Education Act 1990, the school is required to meet the requirements for registration, should it wish to apply for this status.
In addition to the subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, and History/Geography, the school offers Visual & Creative Arts, Drama, Music, and themes within the key learning area of Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. In the secondary school Band is offered as an elective. Bible Story time for K-2 students and Bible Devotions classes for Years 3-12 are included in the curriculum, where students have opportunity to learn and apply Biblical principles in all of life.
